Sherline King scored a career-high five goals, the first coming 2:32 into the match, as seventh-ranked Jones clinched a home playoff match with an 8-1 win Tuesday night at East Mississippi's Sullivan-Windham Field.
Jones improved to 10-4-2 and closed out MACCC play 7-3-1 to earn the No. 4 seed in the Gulf South District Tournament which begins Halloween night.
It marks an eighth straight year with double digit wins for the Bobcats.
Jones will host Pearl River in the Gulf South Quarterfinals at 6 p.m. Friday. The winner advances to Ridgeland for the semifinals and final.
On Tuesday night, King completed her hat-trick in the first half on a soft touch from
Jordan Robinson in the 33rd minute.
Leading 4-0 at the half, Ella Morse got the Lions on the board in the 61st minute.
Nadia Sobel scored her third goal in four matches in the 63rd minute, King added two more and
Tereza Perez netted her second career goal in the 80th.
Jones outshot EMCC 22-3.
Jennifer Huerzeler didn't face a shot in the first half and got the win.
