Jones men's soccer captures sixth MACCC title in eight seasons

SCOOBA – The dynasty rolls on.

Jones men's soccer defeated East Mississippi 5-0 Tuesday night at Sullivan-Windham Field in Scooba to capture its sixth MACCC Championship in eight seasons.

Jones and Pearl River officially end as co-champions, but the Bobcats are the No. 1 seed in the Gulf South District playoffs due to winning the head-to-head tiebreak.

Matt Reed's 14th minute goal was the only scoring of the first half before the Bobcats broke it open with four goals the final 28 minutes.

Reed had a brace, Dylan Dykes added a brace with goals in the 73rd and 89th minutes and Lucas Ekfeldt scored a 63rd minute goal.

Jones outshot EMCC 33-4, including 19-3 on net.

EMCC keeper Bentchey Garcia kept things respectable with a fantastic 14-save night. Brax Rials had three first-half saves for Jones.

Jones heads to Ridgeland on Wednesday, Nov. 5 for the playoffs where they'll play at either 11 a.m. or 1:30 p.m. against a to be determined opponent.
