Emily Mizelle hit a two-run homer in the third and
Reanna Nieman tossed a complete game in No. 4 Jones' 5-1 win over Northwest to open NJCAA Region 23 Championship play Friday at The Bank.
Jones will face No. 14 East Central at 1 p.m. Saturday in a winner's bracket game. Northwest and Pearl River play an elimination game at 4.
Makynlie Jones' RBI-double put the Bobcats on the board in the second and
Emma Moore followed three batters later with a sac fly to make it 2-0.
After a leadoff single from
Brooklynn Montana in the third, Mizelle hit her 15th home run to left-center to extend the lead to 4-0.
Nieman worked around traffic in the fourth and fifth innings and allowed a one-out RBI-single to Abby Rogers for Northwest's lone run.
Mizelle's sac fly in the fifth capped the scoring.
Nieman scattered one run, six hits, six walks and six strikeouts for her 17th win. She needed 132 pitches.
