ELLISVILLE – No. 6 Jones continued its dominance over Meridian Wednesday evening, smashing seven home runs and winning 10-2 and 5-0 to move into a tie for second place in the MACCC with six games to play.
The Bobcats have won 35 straight over the Eagles dating back to 2010.
Jones improved to 31-11, 18-4 in the MACCC while Meridian fell to 20-28, 7-13 MACCC.

Jones hit four home runs, three of them two-run shots, and pounded out 16 hits in a run-rule win.
Makynlie Jones hit a solo shot in the second and
Emma Moore hit a sac fly later in the inning to make it 2-0 Bobcats.
After a leadoff double in the third,
Jayden Sawyer hit a two-run shot to center to make it 4-0.
Emily Mizelle and
Meredith Fontenot followed with two, two-run homers and it was quickly an 8-0 Jones lead after three.
Reanna Nieman didn't allow a hit through three until a single in the fourth and two-run double made it 8-2.
Mak. Jones added an RBI-single in the fourth and
Kaleigh Steverson hit a bloop single over the third baseman's head to score Ellise Jackson for the winning run in the fifth.
Jones and Fontenot had three hits apiece.
Nieman (15-4) struck out seven against one walk and allowed two runs on two hits for the win.
Meg Vinson got the final out.

Sawyer tossed a one-hit shutout with eight strikeouts and went yard for the 22nd time to cap a two-game sweep.
Moore's RBI-single in the second scored Mak. Jones for what was the game-winning hit.
Jones followed with a solo homer in the third, Sawyer a solo shot in the fifth and Mizelle hit her second of the day.
Meridian's lone hit was a single in the fifth.
