No. 6 Jones run-rules Coastal Alabama-South twice

BAY MINETTE, Ala. – Home runs were aplenty Tuesday afternoon at Coastal Alabama-South.

Jones smashed six home runs, with Makynlie Jones and Emma Moore hitting the first of their collegiate careers in the second game.

Jones won the opener 12-0 in five innings and the finale 10-1 in five.

The Bobcats travel to Itawamba Community College Sunday, March 3 to face No. 13 Wallace State and No. 11 Des Moines Area.

Jones 12, Coastal-South 0 (5 inn.)

Jayden Sawyer, Brooklynn Montana and Emily Mizelle each hit two-run homers and Reanna Nieman tossed a complete-game four-hitter in the run-rule victory.

Mizelle's double in the first got the scoring started, followed a few batters later by Sawyer's homer to quickly make it 3-0 after one.

Leading 7-0 after three, Montana and Mizelle each homered in the fifth to put the run-rule in effect.

Nieman struck out five, walked three and allowed no runs in five innings to move to 7-1.

Moore and Mak. Jones had two hits apiece.

Sawyer followed up Nieman's four-hitter with a two-hitter and Moore and Mak. Jones hit their first home runs for another run-rule.

Jones scored four in the first off RBI-singles from Sawyer and Jones and Kaleigh Steverson's two-run double.

Mak. Jones hit a two-run shot to center in the third, Moore a two-run homer in the fifth and Mizelle a solo shot in the fifth to make quick work of the Coyotes.

Coastal's lone run of the day came of Kaylin Finch's RBI-double in the third.
