ELLISVILLE – Jones kept its undefeated season alive and also helped head coach
Dolores Deasley pick up a career milestone in a 4-0 win over Itawamba Friday night.
The Bobcats improved to 8-0 overall, 5-0 in the MACCC with their 15th straight win over the Indians who fell to 10-3, 2-3 in conference play.
Deasley grabbed career win No. 200 in her 16th season leading the program, improving to 200-49-9 (.792).
Jones was on the attack early and often, with
Gemma Whitchurch hitting the crossbar two minutes in and
Celine Ottah in the 7th minute.
ICC keeper Asia Robinson had seven of her 13 saves in the opening half.
The Bobcats broke through in the 34th minute when
Abby Sheriff found the back of the net off a
Riley Davis assist.
Hilary Jaén headed in her 11th goal of the year 2:04 later and would add her 12th in the 40th minute on a double assisted effort from Sheriff and Whitchurch to give Jones a 3-0 lead.
Celine Ottah and
Caroline Wilson combined for Ottah's 10th goal in the 44th minute to make it 4-0 Bobcats at the half.
That's how the match would end 45 minutes later.
Jones outshot ICC 35-1, including 17-0 on goal.
Jona Hennings played the first 45 and
Scarlette Roberts the final 45 minutes in net and were not tested.
Jones continues a four-match homestand Tuesday against Meridian.
