CUTHBERT, Ga. – Newcomers
Celine Ottah and
Hilary Jaén each had first half hat-tricks to help No. 4 Jones set a school record with 16 goals in a thumping of Andrew College Saturday morning.
It marked the first-ever meeting between the two programs.
The previous school record was 15 goals in a shutout of East Central in 2009.
It was an onslaught from the first 4:22, with Ottah's first of four goals putting the Bobcats ahead for good.
Abby Sheriff added goals in the 13th and 17th minutes and
Avery Saulter in the 33rd to help give Jones a 9-0 cushion at the half.
Jones outshot Andrew 42-0 and drew 10 corners.
Ottah and Jaén added their fourth goals in the 47th and 52nd minutes to start the second half.
Irianna Evans added two more and
Haley James,
Mary Bradley McCardle and
Gemma Whitchurch all followed with goals.
Next up is an exhibition match against West Alabama on Thursday at 7 p.m. before five straight on the road.
