Three former Bobcats will get their shot in National Football League

KANSAS CITY – Three former Jones College Bobcats will get their shot in the National Football League.

Quarterback Stetson Bennett (Georgia) was a fourth round pick of the Los Angeles Rams and linebacker Nick Anderson (Tulane) and wide receiver Duece Watts (Tulane) both signed as undrafted free agents with the New Orleans Saints and Green Bay Packers, respectively.

All three played on the 2018 squad together that finished 10-2 and won the Mississippi Bowl.

Bennett's story has been told over and over again. The former Georgia walk-on played the 2018 season at Jones and then earned a scholarship to return to UGA in 2019 where he eventually led the Bulldogs to their first national title in 40 years and back-to-back.

"I can't wait to get out there," Bennett said on Twitter. "Excited to get to work. We've got some Dawgs in the QB room now."

Bennett is referring to former Georgia Bulldog Matt Stafford who's the starting quarterback for the 2022 Super Bowl Champion Rams.

Bennett threw for 1,820 yards, 16 touchdowns and 14 interceptions in his lone season in Ellisville, helping Jones to a 10-2 record, conference runner-up finish and bowl victory.

A Heisman Trophy finalist and Burlsworth Trophy Winner at Georgia, Bennett would go on to throw for 8,428 yards and 66 touchdowns and also rushed for 530 yards and 14 more scores over his career.

Anderson also played just one season at Jones, finishing with a team-high 74 tackles, 8.5 tackles-for-loss and a pair of sacks.

He enjoyed a ton of success at Tulane, racking up 275 career tackles with 27 tackles-for-loss and 10.5 sacks.

Watts played the 2018-19 seasons for the Bobcats, hauling in 47 receptions for 702 yards and five touchdowns. He also returned kicks as a sophomore and averaged 28 yards per return.

At Tulane, Watts had 81 catches for 1,407 yards and 16 touchdowns.

The duo helped the Green Wave to the single-greatest turnaround in NCAA football history going from 2-10 in 2021 to 12-2 in 2022 and defeating USC in the Cotton Bowl, 46-45.
