FULTON – This year's NJCAA Region 23 Softball Tournament will be played in Ellisville May 9-14.
Two dominating run-rule wins for No. 7 Jones at No. 18 Itawamba on Saturday, 9-0 and 9-1, extended the Bobcats' win streak to 19 games and clinched the hosting spot.
The Bobcats have more unfinished business to take care of on Tuesday, however, with Jones hosting Northwest for a pair at The Bank at 3 p.m. The Bobcats need a sweep to win this year's MACCC Championship outright.
Jones is 40-6, 24-2 in the MACCC and Northwest comes in 31-7, 20-6 in the league. Both are ranked in the NJCAA Top 10.
Jones 9, Itawamba 0 (6 inn.)
Nia Luckett tossed a two-hit shutout with nine strikeouts and eight different Bobcats picked up a hit in a game one victory in six.
Aaliyah Dixon's two-run triple and
Carly Lewis' RBI-single made it 4-0 Jones after two.
A four-run sixth -- all with two outs -- put the game away.
Lauren Lindsey,
Kathryn Smith,
Gabby Hoffman and
Landry Dupont all singled in the inning.
Luckett improved to 11-2 in the circle and has not allowed an earned run in 15.2 innings.
Eight Bobcats combined for the 10 hits.
Meg Gatlin was one of those with an RBI-double.

Kathryn Smith hit her team-leading 17th home run as Jones closed out the sweep.
Jones jumped out to a 3-0 lead after one after Lewis' two-run double and Hoffman's RBI-single.
