Bobcats split matches in Sumter

SUMTER, S.C. – No. 14 Jones College went 11-1 in the Sumter Juco Invitational over the weekend.
 
The Bobcats defeated No. 13 USC Sumter, 5-4, and lost 7-1 to No. 11 Harford (Maryland). The match vs. No. 4 Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (Georgia) was suspended.
 
Jones goes to East Central on Tuesday and visits Meridian on Friday to wrap up the regular season.

The Bobcats lost two of the doubles' points.
 
Tomi Nader (Argentina) and Wallace Brewer (Germantown) beat Arthur McCarthy and Federico Roman in No. 1 doubles, 8-4. Tanner Bevard (Sacred Heart) and Jackson Peoples (Northwest Rankin) fell 2-8 to Andres Viedma and Mathis Collignon in No. 2 doubles. Dawson Do (Northwest Rankin) and Prescott Schaumberg (Indianola Academy) lost 2-8 to Liam Barry and Kalle Johansson in No. 3 doubles.
 
Nader rallied by Collignon in No. 1 singles, 3-6, 7-5, 10-7, and Brewer defeated Roman, 6-1, 6-2 in No.2 singles. Bevard rallied in No. 3 singles to win 2-6, 7-6, 10-7 over Viedma and Peoples bounced back to defeat Mario Molina in No. 4 singles, 2-6, 6-1, 10-5. Dawson lost to Barry in No. 5 singles, 3-6, 5-7, and Hudson Hans (Moss Point) dropped a 3-6, 2-6 decision to Johansson in No. 6 singles.

Jones got its only win in No. 2 doubles with Charlie Brady (Australia) and Bevard defeating Pablo Poleo Gonzalez and Antonin Leborne, 8-4. Nader and Brewer lost 6-8 to Jaroslav Majsajdr and James Girdler in No. 1 doubles. Peoples and Do fell 5-8 to Mathius Desureau and Filip Bazaant in No. 3 doubles. 
 
Nader lost 1-6, 4-6 to Majsajdr in No. 1 singles and Brewer dropped a 2-6, 4-6 decision to Leborne in No. 2 singles. Brady lost 4-6, 1-6 to Girdler in No. 3 singles and Bevard fell 0-6, 1-6 to Poleo Gonzalez in No. 4 singles. Do lost 1-6, 2-6 to Jesse Faro in No. 6 singles. Peoples had won the first set in No. 5 singles before the match was stopped by lightning.
