Abby Sheriff scored twice and the Bobcat defense allowed just one shot on goal in an NJCAA Tournament opening win over Schoolcraft, 3-1, on Monday night at the Kino Sports Complex.
Jones will face Northeast in a winner-take-all match at 6:30 Tuesday for Pool D.
Sheriff broke the stalemate in the 33rd minute off a ball by
Celine Ottah and Jones led 1-0 at the break.
An own goal 1:28 into the second half extended the Bobcat lead to 2-0.
Jones, who had five shots the first half, fired off 13 in the second and found another goal by Sheriff in the 62nd minute to make it 3-0.
A Bobcat foul in the box setup a penalty kick for Schoolcraft and Victoria Kebbe scored the Ocelots lone goal.
Jona Hennings played the first 79:31 and didn't face a shot.
Scarlette Roberts played the final 10:29 in net and challenged the PK.
Jones outshot Schoolcraft 18-4, 9-1 on goal.
