ELLISVILLE – No. 16 Jones College defeated Northeast Mississippi 9-0 here on a cold Friday afternoon at the Bobcat Tennis Complex.
Jones is now 3-0 and will face Oxford-Emory (Georgia) at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Meridian.
The Bobcats had little trouble with the Tigers.
Tomi Nader (Argentina) defeated Hayden Lassiter in No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-0.
Trey Hilton (Pearl) downed Jeb Jackson 6-0, 6-0 in No. 2 singles.
Prescott Schaumberg (Indianola Academy) whipped Zack Marter in No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-1 and
John Jabour (Warren Central) blanked Gauge May in No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-0.
Jack Owens (Brandon) defeated Wes Wiltshire in No. 5 singles, 6-1, 6-0 and
Tahir El-Zare (Hattiesburg) whipped Chandler Ball in No. 6 singles, 6-1, 6-0.
Nader and
Nacho Vanecek (Argentina) blanked Jackson and Lassiter in No. 1 doubles, 8-0. Owens and
Jackson Peoples (Northwest Rankin) defeated Marter and May in No. 2 doubles, 8-1. Schaumberg and El-Zare downed Ball and Wiltshire in No. 3 doubles, 8-0.
The Bobcats visit East Central for a 2 p.m. match on Tuesday.
Northeast, 0-3, meets Mississippi Gulf Coast on Tuesday.
