ELLISVILLE – Gracie Gustafson netted her third goal of the season -- all game-winners -- in the 54th minute to guide No. 5 Jones over Southwest, 1-0, Friday night. 

Jones improved to 9-1-2 overall and 33-0 all-time against the Bears who fell to 5-9.

Scoreless the opening 53 minutes, Gustafson took a bouncing ball in the box that pinballed off several players and finally found the foot of the sophomore who fired it in from a few feet out. 

Southwest had two early shots on goal, but that was it. Danae Fowler stopped both. Makenna Yarrow played the final 45.

Jones outshot Southwest 24-4 and drew eight corners to the Bears' zero. The Bobcats were whistled for 20 fouls against six for Southwest, who was also carded twice.

The Bobcats, who have clinched a Region 23 playoff spot, will close out the regular season at home on Tuesday against Hinds.
