Box Score ELLISVILLE – No. 6 Jones College opened the 2021 fall season with a dominating, 7-0 victory over East Central here Monday night at Bobcat Soccer Field.
Elean Fajardo (Oak Grove) had two goals and an assist,
Lee Hill (Newton County) had a goal and two assists and
Brodie Rials (East Rankin Academy) had two assists.
Garrett Wise (Madison Central) played 78 minutes in goal and got the win.
Tyler Harris (Brandon) played the final 12 minutes and had two saves.
Mason Morgan (Jackson Prep) got the Bobcats on the board in the 15th minute off a Fajardo assist.
Andrew Craig (Northwest Rankin) scored in the 23rd minute off an assist by Hill and Hill scored in the 33rd minute via an assist by Rials to give Jones a 3-0 halftime lead.
The Bobcats scored four goals over the game's final 18 minutes. Fajardo scored in the 73rd and 75th minutes with assists going to Hill and Craig.
Kelton Keene (West Jones) got a goal off a corner kick by Rials in the 84th minute and
Clint Ryals (Stone) finished the scoring in the 89th minute off an assist by
Tres Ray (Poplarville).
Jones dominated the statistics, getting 22 shots compared to just two for East Central. The Bobcats had 14 shots on goal and ECCC had two. The Warriors had seven saves and Jones had two. The Bobcats had seven corner kicks and East Central had two. Jones was whistled for 14 fouls and the Warriors had 11.
The Bobcats, 1-0, host Itawamba at 7 p.m. on Friday. The game will air on JCJC.TV.
East Central, 0-1, visits Southwest on Friday.
