OXFORD, Ala. – Locked in a fantastic pitcher's duel for eight plus innings, a
Lauren Pope single in the bottom of the ninth scored pinch-runner
Sydney Pevey to lift No. 2 Jones over No. 3 Louisburg, 1-0, in extra innings in the first-ever matchup between the two programs on Thursday afternoon.
Jones extended its season-long winning streak to 24 games while snapping Louisburg's 35-game win streak.
The Bobcats (46-7) are into Friday's national championship semifinal and will face No. 1 Phoenix College (42-1) at 11 a.m. The winner is into the title game and would have to be beat twice on Saturday.
Friday's game will be streaming live on

Nia Luckett was once again fantastic in the circle in a no-decision, allowing just a one-out single in the seventh. She punched out nine on the day, including six straight Canes in the second and third inning.
Jones had its best chance to take an early lead in the third when
Kristian Edwards doubled to put Luckett at third. A foul out, however, ended the scoring chance.
It took until the bottom of the eighth for another opportunity to win it.
A leadoff walk drawn by
Kat Wallace put the winning run on. Wallace stole second and Luckett walked to make it first and second with nobody out. But a double play and pop up erased both runners.
The Canes were a base running mistake away from taking a 1-0 lead in the top of the ninth.
Pinch runner Kendall Bowers advanced to third on a two-out single to short, but was tagged out at home after not realizing the runner was safe at first. She was out by six feet.
Jones called game in the bottom of the ninth.
Lauren Lindsey doubled to leadoff the inning and Pevey ran for her. A batter later, Pope singled to right field to advance Pevey to third and a bobble in right field allowed her to score for the walk-off winner.
Sterling James came on in the eighth and scattered three hits, two strikeouts and no runs to improve to 16-1 on the year.
Edwards and Pope had four of Jones' six hits.
