VICKSBURG – The Jones College Lady Bobcats opened the 2019 season on a successful note here Thursday evening.
Jones blanked Hinds 3-0 here at Sports Force Parks. The game was moved from Raymond because of wet grounds.
Esmeralda Figueroa (Northeast Jones) had a pair of goals and
Rachel Barnaby (Derry, Ireland) added a third.
Figueroa opened the scoring at 15:07 with an assist going to
Sierra McLeod (D'Iberville). Figueroa's shot into the lower left part of the goal made it 2-0 at 66:09 with
Alexus Hodges (George County) getting the assist. Barnaby ended the scoring at 69:47 when she beat the keeper to the upper right.
Heather Sullivan (Pearl) got the assist.
Sarah Sumrall (West Jones) was in goal the entire game for Jones and was credited with three assists.
The Bobcats dominated play, taking 30 shots with 21 shots on goal. Hinds managed four shots with three shots on goal. Jones had six corner kicks and Hinds had one. JC was charged with 13 fouls and Hinds had six.
The Bobcats, 1-0, host ASA Miami at 7 p.m. on Aug. 23. The game is scheduled for webcast on
www.JCJC.TV. Jones visits Holmes for a 5 p.m. game on Aug. 26.
Hinds, 0-1, hosts Pearl River on Monday.
