MERIDIAN –
Adam Lynch finished with a goal and an assist, including the game-winner in the 11th minute, as Jones blanked Meridian, 3-0, for a second time this season to sweep the season series.
Jones improved to 8-4, 4-2 in the south, ran its season-long win streak to four games and stayed unbeaten at 7-0 on the road. Meridian fell to 4-7-1 and 3-4 in division play.
A dominant first 45 minutes only resulted in a 1-0 halftime lead for the Bobcats. Lynch had a penalty kick stopped but took the rebound and scored for the game's first goal.
Jones outshot Meridian 12-2 in the opening half and had an 8-1 edge in corners.
Itai Allen, off a Lynch assist, gave the Bobcats some breathing room in the 68th minute when he beat the keeper upstairs.
Justis Casey capped the scoring in the 88th minute when he one-touched a
Zach Diaz cross into the box.
Jones will head to rival Pearl River on Tuesday, Oct. 15, looking to avenge a 4-0 home loss to the Wildcats back in September. The game will kick at 5 p.m. and be carried on
