Bobcats Advance to MACJC Semis on Penalty Kicks

ELLISVILLE – Alexis Wilson made a huge save to begin the shootout stage and Heather Sullivan connected on the game-winner as Jones held off East Central Tuesday night on penalty kicks to advance to the MACJC Semifinals in Raymond next week.

Jones had to rally from an early one-goal deficit to advance to its 10th straight conference tournament.

Katelyn Morson scored her first goal of the season in the 10th minute to give EC the early advantage.

Trailing at the break, Lucy Critchell helped the Bobcats draw even at 1-1 only 3:28 into the second half on a nice assist from Allie James

The match stayed all square the ensuing 62 minutes into two sudden death overtime periods.

East Central began the shootout stage with Leah Anderson, who was stuffed by Wilson making a diving stop to her right. She ended the evening with six saves.

Allie James and Emily Riley scored to make it 2-1 Jones. EC's Susie Stevison then missed high before Critchell was succesful in making it 3-1 Jones.

Hannah Herren got EC within 3-2 before Sullivan's game-winner on the Bobcats' fourth kick ended it.

Winners in seven of its last eight matches, Jones will get a rematch with No. 17 Holmes on Monday at 1 p.m. in Raymond. The Lady Bulldogs handed JC its worst loss of the season, 6-1, back on August 27.
