Bobcats edge Pearl River, 2-1

ELLISVILLE – Chris Dempsey scored two goals, including the game-winner in the 85th minute, as the Bobcats beat Pearl River 2-1 Friday night in Poplarville.

Jones is now 10-4 overall, 6-2 in the MACJC South Division. The Bobcats end the season as the No. 2 team in the South.

Pearl River took a 1-0 lead in the 48th minute, but Dempsey tied it in the 58th minute.

Making his first collegiate start between the posts, freshman Peyton Wilbanks finished with eight saves before leaving with an injury. Callum Harley closed things out the final 10 minutes to earn the win. The lone goal surrendered came off a PK on a questionable foul in the box.

The Bobcats will host East Central at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the first round of the playoffs. The Warriors are the No. 3 team out of the North. The game will air on JCJC.TV.

The winner of Tuesday's game will advance to the MACJC Tournament Oct. 26-27 at Hinds Community College in Raymond.
