ELLISVILLE – The Jones College Bobcats scored three goals in a 7:32 minute stretch of the second half and beat Southwest Mississippi, 3-1, here Wednesday night at Bobcat Soccer Field.
It was the sixth straight win for Jones, 9-1 overall, and keeps the Bobcats in a tie for first place in the MACJC South Division with Pearl River. Both teams are 4-1.
The game was scoreless in the first half.
The Bearst would take the lead at 61:40 when Felipe Madero scored on a Patrick Larsen assist.
But the Bobcats would get hot at the right time.
Thomas Carlile (Athgarvan, Ireland) got the equalizer at 74:18 on an assist by
Davis Gibson (Sacred Heart).
Carlile, the current MACJC and NJCAA Division I Offensive Player of the Week, put the Bobcats up 2-1 with a goal at 77:00.
Jones would add an insurance goal at 81:50 when
Malachi Harrison (Northeast Jones) put the ball in the net after receiving a pass from Carlile.
Callum Harley (Whitley Bay, England) had numerous saves in goal and played the entire 90 minutes for Jones.
The Bobcats visit Mississippi Gulf Coast for a 7 p.m. Tuesday game.
Southwest falls to 9-2 overall, 3-2 in the division. Both of their losses have been to Jones.
The Bears host Pearl River on Saturday.
