ELLISVILLE – Postseason play begins Thursday for the Jones College men's soccer team.
Head coach
Brendan Connolly's Bobcats will host Holmes Community College at 7 p.m. in an MACJC Tournament quarterfinal game. Jones is the South No. 2 team, while Holmes is the North No. 3 team.
The Jones/Holmes winner will face Itawamba at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Bobcat Soccer Field in the MACJC Tournament semifinals. The season ends for the loser.
The Bobcats defeated Holmes 3-0 on September 28 during the regular season.
Jones, 11-2, is led by
Thomas Carlile (Athgarvan, Ireland), who has 41 points on the season, which is second in the state.
Justis Casey (Greene County) has 20 points, while
Dalton Morgan (South Jones),
Cris Rodrigo (Northwest Rankin) and
Glenn Waters (Dungarvan, Ireland) have 14 points each.
Callum Harley (Whitley Bay, England) has recorded three shutouts in the Bobcats' last five games in goal.
Holmes, 4-9-1, is led by Khalee Wilson with 10 points.
In the other men's MACJC quarterfinal game tonight, Hinds (North No. 2) hosts Southwest (South No. 3) at 6. The winner of that game meets Pearl River at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in the semifinals.
