ELLISVILLE – Pearl River scored a pair of second half goals and defeated Jones County, 2-0, here Friday night at Bobcat Soccer Field.
Pearl River scored twice in the final 18 minutes to secure the win.
Each team traded shots throughout the first half.
Jones had a chance to take the lead five minutes into the second half when
Thomas Carlile (Athgarvan, Ireland) had a penalty kick opportunity, but Pearl River goalkeeper Kobe Lie made the save.
The Wildcats took a 1-0 lead at 72:46 when Jevaun Ennis scored off an assist by Junior Sanchez. Pearl River made it 2-0 at 84:55 when Bo Bowman scored on a penalty kick.
Michael Godley (Starkville) made his debut as a goalkeeper and played the entire game for the Bobcats.
JCJC is now 2-4-1 overall and 1-3 in the division.
The Wildcats are 5-1 overall and 3-1 in division play.
The Bobcats will host Itawamba at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Pearl River will travel to Hinds on Wednesday.
