SENATOBIA – Jones County Junior College and Northwest Mississippi fought to a 2-2 tie here Tuesday afternoon at Ranger Soccer Field.
The Bobcats took a 1-0 lead at 25:39 when
Dalton Morgan (South Jones) scored off a rebound assist by
Davis Gibson (Sacred Heart).
Northwest tied the game at 1-1 at 42:23 when Peyton McKnatt scored on a Michael Ledbetter assist.
The Bobcats went up 2-1 at 71:18 when Gibson scored off a
Callum Dougan (Ballynahinch, Ireland) assist.
The Rangers tied it at 2-2 at 85:02 when Cayman Blount scored off a header.
The two teams then played two 10-minute overtime periods and neither team was able to score.
JCJC finished with 26 shots (14 on goal), while Northwest had 18 (10 on goal). Dougan had four shots on goal and
Larry Gibson (Sacred Heart) had three.
Hudson Matheny (Starkville) was in goal for the entire game and had eight saves.
The Bobcats, 1-1-1, will host Mississippi Gulf Coast at 7 p.m. Friday in the MACJC South Division opener.
Northwest, 1-1-1, hosts LSU-Alexandria on Saturday.
