MERIDIAN – The Jones County Junior College Bobcats outscored Meridian Community College 5-3 here Tuesday night.
JCJC broke a 1-1 tie with four goals in the second half to defeat the Eagles.
The Bobcats took a 1-0 lead in the 5
th minute when
Davis Gibson (Sacred Heart) scored off an assist by
Thomas Carlile (Athgarvan, Ireland). MCC's Pedro Dutra tied it in the 38
th minute off an assist by Thallison Alex.
Dalton Morgan's (South Jones) goal in the 46
th minute off a
Callum Dougan (Ballynahinch, Ireland) assist put Jones up 2-1. Carlile scored in the 50
th minute off an assist by
Lucas Middleton (Hemsworth, UK) to give the Bobcats a 3-1 lead.
The Eagles came back with a goal by Casey Ulmer off a Josh Cochran assist in the 53
rd minute. MCC tied it at 3-3 in the 60
th minute when Dutra scored.
But the Bobcats regained the lead quickly with Dougan scoring off a Carlile assist in the 61
st minute. JCJC scored the final goal in the 85
th minute when
Kreider Henderson (North Pike) scored via a Carlile assist.
Michael Godley (Starkville) played the entire game in goal for the Bobcats.
JCJC is now 6-7-1 overall and 2-5 in the division. The Eagles are now 0-12-2 overall and 0-5-1 in division play.
JCJC ends the regular season on Oct. 17 at Pearl River. Meridian travels to Mississippi Gulf Coast on Friday.
The MACJC/Region 23 Tournament will be held Oct. 28-29 at the site of the North Division women's champion.
