PERKINSTON – Jones County held a 2-1 lead over Mississippi Gulf Coast heading into the final 18 minutes of play.
But the Bulldogs scored four goals in an 11-minute stretch and defeated JCJC 5-2 here Tuesday night at the MGCCC Soccer Complex.
The Bobcats held their own until late in the match.
The game was scoreless at halftime. MGCCC scored in the 52
nd minute to take a 1-0 lead.
JCJC tied it at 1-1 in the 58
th minute when
Joseph Todd (Belfast, Northern Ireland) scored off a
Yates Rodney (Sumrall) assist.
The Bobcats took a 2-1 lead in the 72
nd minute when
Kieran Robins (Norwich, England) scored off a Todd assist.
But the Bulldogs would tie it in the 75
th minute and take a 3-2 lead in the 79
th minute. MGCCC added goals in the 85
th and 86
th minutes.
Darren Ross (Belfast, Northern Ireland) was in goal for JCJC.
The Bobcats are now 0-3 overall, 0-2 in MACJC South Division play.
MGCCC is 3-1 overall and 2-0 in the division.
The Bobcats will go to Meridian for a 7 p.m. match on Friday.
MGCCC hosts Copiah-Lincoln on Friday.
