ELLISVILLE – Southwest Mississippi scored a goal in each half and defeated Jones County 2-0 here Friday evening at Bobcat Soccer Field.
The Bears improved to 4-0 overall and 1-0 in the MACJC South Division.
JCJC is now 0-2 overall, 0-1 in division play.
It was a tight battle all the way, but the Bears were able to pull out the victory.
JCJC had an opportunity about 15 minutes into play, but
Vitaly Drake (Oak Grove) just missed on a shot.
The Bears took a 1-0 lead when Jamie Delor scored off an assist by Michael Escobar.

Kieran Robins (Norwich, England) had a couple of free kick chances in the first part of the second half.
Southwest went up 2-0 at 67:15 when Delor assisted Francisco Alisiardi.

James Browning (Clarkdale) just missed on a header in the final 10 minutes.
Darren Ross (Belfast, Ireland) played the entire game in goal for JCJC and was credited with 11 saves.
Kade Jenkins was in goal for Southwest.
JCJC remains in division play with a 7 p.m. game Tuesday at Mississippi Gulf Coast.
Southwest hosts Meridian on Tuesday.
