ELLISVILLE – Mississippi Gulf Coast broke a 2-2 tie early in the second half and went on to defeat Jones County 4-2 here Friday night at Bobcat Soccer Field.
It was MGCCC's 10th straight victory.
JCJC is now 5-6 overall, 4-3 in the MACJC South Division. MGCCC is 11-1 overall, 7-0 in division play.
Trailing 2-1 at halftime, JCJC tied the game in the first minute of the second half. But MGCCC would pull away and remain unbeaten in division play.
The Bulldogs took a 1-0 lead at 4:14 when Caleb Counselman scored.
The Bobcats tied it at 1-1 when
Joseph Todd (Belfast, Northern Ireland) scored at 21:34.
MGCCC regained the lead at 2-1 when Tylor Davis scored at 34:25
Jones tied it at 45:48 when Todd scored off an assist by
Jonathon Taylor (Stone).
MGCCC took a 3-2 lead at 54:31 when Aarin Johnson scored. The Bulldogs ended the scoring at 81:47 on a James Beattie scored.
Darren Ross (Belfast, Northern Ireland) was in goal for the Bobcats and had eight saves. Bryce Yelverton was in goal for the Bulldogs and had four saves.
JCJC took 13 shots and six shots on goal. MGCCC had 32 shots and 12 shots on goal. MGCCC had seven corner kicks and Jones had two.
The Bobcats will host Meridian in a big division at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
MGCCC visits Copiah-Lincoln.
