SUMMIT – The Jones County Junior College Bobcats posted a 3-2 victory over Southwest here Tuesday afteernoon.
The Bobcats are now 5-5 overall and 4-2 in South Division play.
JCJC is currently tied for second in the division with Meridian at 4-2. Mississippi Gulf Coast leads the division at 6-0.
JCJC recorded a crucial division win and avenged an earlier season loss to Southwest. JCJC's victory snapped a five-game Southwest winning streak.
The Bears took a 1-0 lead at 13:33 on a goal by Francisco Alisiardi off a Jamie Delor assist.
The Bobcats tied it at 1-1 when
Joseph Todd (Belfast, Northern Ireland) scored off an assist by
Donaldo Martinez (West Jones) at 26:19. JCJC took a 2-1 lead at 33:43 when
Kieran Robins (Norwich, England) scored via a Todd assist.
Todd's goal at 77:58 gave JCJC a 3-1 lead.
Southwest closed the gap to 3-2 at 87:17 when Joey Barrick scored off an assist by Hunter Ford.
But the Bobcats were able to close out the match and post the victory.
Darren Ross (Belfast, Northern Ireland) was in goal for the Bobcats and recorded nine saves.
Southwest had beaten JCJC 2-0 on Sept. 2.
The Bears drop to 9-4 overall, 2-4 in the division.
JCJC will host division-leading Mississippi Gulf Coast at 7 p.m. on Friday.
Southwest goes to Meridian on Friday.
