WESSON – The Jones County Junior College men's soccer team recorded a big 4-2 MACJC South Division win over Copiah-Lincoln here Friday night at Wolves Soccer Field.
The Bobcats are now 7-6 overall and 6-3 in the division and will wrap up second place in the division if Mississippi Gulf Coast defeats Southwest on Saturday. That would ensure the Bobcats of hosting a first-round playoff game on Oct. 25 vs. the No. 3 team from the North Division.
Co-Lin took the lead in the eighth minute when Anthony Rodrigues scored with Sulieman Carr getting the assist.
The Bobcats tied it in the 10
th minute when
Kieran Robins (Norwich, England) scored. Robins scored in the 25
th minute to give JCJC a 2-1 lead at halftime.
JCJC went up 3-1 in the 51
st minute when
Joseph Todd (Belfast, Northern Ireland) scored off a Robins' assist.
Co-Lin pulled within 3-2 in the 65
th minute when Rodrigues scored with Cayman Blount getting the assist.
The Bobcats got some insurance in the 88
th minute when Todd scored off a Jonathan Taylor (Stone) assist.
Darren Ross (Belfast, Northern Ireland) was in goal for Jones and had four saves.
The Bobcats took 13 shots, six shots on goal. Co-Lin had seven shots and six shots on goal. Co-Lin had seven corner kicks and JCJC had one.
JCJC will host Pearl River at 7 p.m. on Tuesday. It will be "Sophomore Night" and the Bobcat sophomores will be recognized just prior to the start of the game.
The Wolves are now 1-14 overall and 0-9 in division play. Co-Lin ends its season at Southwest on Tuesday.
