ELLISVILLE – The Jones County Junior College Bobcats are now in sole possession of second place in the MACJC South Division.
JCJC posted a 2-1 win over Meridian Community College here Tuesday night at Bobcat Soccer Field.
Mississippi Gulf Coast has clinched division title with an 8-0 record, while JCJC is 5-3. Meridian is 4-4, while Pearl River and Southwest are both 3-4 and will play each other on Wednesday. The top three teams qualify for the playoffs.
By clinching the division title, MGCCC will host the MACJC/Region 23 Tournament Oct. 29-30.
JCJC completed the season sweep over Meridian. The Bobcats defeated the Eagles 3-2 on Sept. 9.
Jonathon Taylor (Stone) got the Bobcats on the board first at 10:50.
Joseph Todd (Belfast, Northern Ireland) had the assist.
JCJC took a 2-0 lead at 32:00 when Todd scored off a
Kieran Robins (Norwich, England) assist.
Meridian's only goal came early in the second half on an own goal at 45:53.

Darren Ross (Belfast, Northern Ireland) played the entire game and had four saves.
JCJC had 17 shots and 12 shots on goal. The Eagles had seven shots and five shots on goal. Meridian had three corner kicks and Jones had one.
Meridian falls to 9-5 overall, 4-4 in division play.
JCJC visits Copiah-Lincoln on Friday at 6 p.m.
Meridian goes to Pearl River on Friday.
