SENATOBIA – The Northwest Mississippi Rangers broke a 1-1 halftime with five goals in the second half and defeated Jones County Junior College 6-1 here Saturday afternoon.
The Rangers took a 1-0 lead at 21:24 on a goal by Jonathan Felix and an assist by Jaylen Harvey.
The Bobcats tied the game at 1-1 at 40:07 on a penalty kick goal by
Jake Holland.
Lance Crabtree's goal at 49:26 put the Rangers up 2-1. Felix then scored again off an assist by Bryant Young to take a 3-1 lead at 55:58. Crabtree's goal at 61:55 made it 4-1.
Crabtree then got his third goal at 71:13 to make it 5-1. Harvey then ended the scoring at 81:15 off an assist by Jesus Garcia.
The Bobcats took nine shots in the game, compared to 28 for Northwest. The Rangers had three saves, while the Bobcats had seven. JCJC had six saves, while Northwest had three.
Holland, Moses Muhabao and
Jared Brister each took two shots for Jones.
Braxton Taylor was in goal for the Bobcats.
Crabtree had six shots for the Rangers and Matthew Williams was in goal.
The Bobcats, 0-2, will host Itawamba in a 6 p.m. match on Wednesday.
Northwest, 1-0-1, hosts Meridian on Tuesday.
