This week's Lady Bobcat Athlete of the Week is Rachel Hayes.
Hayes, a sophomore RHP from Ocean Springs, had an incredible week for the No. 5 Lady Bobcats.
She went 5-0, posting five complete-game victories in both the MACJC and Region 23 Tournaments, leading JCJC to the championship in both events. The Southeastern Louisiana University signee pitched 35 innings, allowed 24 hits, six earned runs, 11 walks and struck out 24 as she improved to 27-1.
She allowed one run, five hits, walked three and struck out four in a 3-1 win over Gulf Coast. She allowed 0 runs, seven hits, walked three and struck out five in a 2-0 win over Gulf Coast in the MACJC title game.
In the Region 23 Tournament, Hayes allowed one earned run, five hits, walked one and struck out four in a 3-2 win over East Central. In a 4-2 win over No.1 LSU Eunice, she allowed two runs, four hits, walked three and struck out seven. In a 5-2 win in the Region 23 title game over LSU Eunice, she allowed two earned runs, three hits, walked one and struck out three.
Hayes was named the MACJC Pitcher of the Week for the fourth time this season.
