Madison Currie is this week’s Lady Bobcat Athlete of the Week.
Currie won the MACJC/Region 23 No. 2 singles championship at the tournament at Mississippi Gulf Coast.
Currie, a freshman from Brookhaven, defeated Itawamba’s Andria Barnes 7-5, 6-4 in the finals. She beat Mississippi Gulf Coast’s Jasmine Sartin in the semifinals, 6-1, 6-4. She won her quarterfinal match over Brittany Weathersby of Hinds, 6-1, 6-1.
Currie was the top seed going into the tournament.
