Carter Polles has been named the NJCAA Division II Player of the Week and the MACJC Player of the Week.
Last week, the sophomore from South Jones went 6-for-13 with one home run, two doubles and nine RBIs as JCJC went 3-1 during the week.
The Hattiesburg native did most of the damage in a 16-6 victory over Faulkner State Community College (Alabama) on Feb. 28. In that game, Polles was 3-for-4 with one home run, one double and seven runs batted in. He followed that game by having the game-winning RBI with a single in the bottom of the seventh inning in a 4-3 win over Baton Rouge Community College (Louisiana). He was also 2-for-2 with an RBI in a 13-3 win over Southwest Mississippi on Feb. 26.
Polles was also the starting pitcher in the game vs. BRCC. He went the first 4-plus innings, allowed three runs (one earned), four hits, walked one and struck out seven.
